The Beauty shortlisted for Shirley Jackson Award

The Beauty does it again, this time hitting the shortlist for the 2014 Shirley Jackson Award. Coming hot on the heels of its nomination for the Saboteur Awards this is the third placing for Whiteley's novella.

The Shirley Jackson Awards are given in recognition of the legacy of Shirley Jackson's writing, with permission of the author's estate. The Awards acknowledge outstanding achievement in the literature of psychological suspense, horror, and the dark fantastic (which those who have read it will hopefully agree, The Beauty pretty much nails on all counts) and are voted upon by a jury of professional writers, editors, critics, and academics, with input from a Board of Advisors.

The 2014 awards will be presented on 12th July 2015 at ReaderCon 26 in Burlington, Massachusetts. Until then we will sit on our hands and wait patiently. Or try to, at least.

We are enormously proud of Aliya for this nomination and are entirely stoked that The Beauty is being picked up by the Shirley Jackson jury. If you will all allow me one more time, a round of applause please for The Beauty.
