Sandman: Overture #1

So all that stuff about TV adaptations? Screw it, The Sandman is back! The print, comic, gorgeous artwork and deliriously good world-creation The Sandman has returned with a 6-part mini series called Sandman: Overture.

Published by Titan Vertigo, the first issue came out at the end of last year with the others following throughout 2014. Wisely, if frustratingly, they are drawing the releases out so that by the time each issue arrives I am suitably whipped up into firm peaks of expectation. Issue #2 comes in March. Bake me at 160°C for 15 mins and you'll have a man-eringue.

What do we know from issue #1 though? Well, not a lot. That's the thing with The Sandman, it's pointless judging the whole by the start because it's too complex for that. So in the absence of any critique or reviews I'm just going to show you how beautiful it is and resist the urge to stroke my screen cravenly...

And yes, I did go for the JH Williams III covers over Dave McKean. It's not because I don't love Dave McKean, I couldn't decide and made a snap decision. Were I rich I'd own them all...
